When your pet is seen at an emergency hospital, please request that they send us a report so we may continue your pet's care. We also ask that you please call us the next day to describe what happened so we may give you further recommendations and instructions if necessary.

We all want to have your pet happy and healthy as quickly as possible. Communication helps us to aid you in reaching that goal.

When Should I Seek Emergency Care for My Pet?

The easiest answer as to whether you should seek emergency care for your pet is when you feel his or her medical condition is serious and cannot wait. However, the following general situations should help you determine if you need to seek emergency care for your pet:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Acute abdominal swelling
  • Electric shock
  • Excessive vomiting or diarrhea
  • Bleeding
  • Exhibits symptoms of heat stroke
  • Seizures
  • Sudden onset of weakness
  • High or low temperature (more than 104 or less than 100 degrees)
  • Inability to urinate or defecate
